Say “Goodbye” to Mom Guilt!

This is my shout out to moms everywhere. Bias alert... I think being a mother is one of the hardest jobs there is. And we get very little support doing it.

In todays culture, there is societal mom guilt for almost every decision or action a mother can take. We are expected to "do it all," do it on our own and do it better than the mom next door.

You don't have time for that! And you will not find that here.

We are all doing our best.

As parents, we don't know what we don't know.

Whenever you feel some guilt or shame start to creep in, ask yourself this - Did you know any different at the time? Have you been making decisions or taking actions based on best intention for your child and family?

If so, then stop yourself there and tell that guilt or shame to move on. Instead tell yourself this:

“You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending."

~ C.S. Lewis

As parents it is inevitable that we will make mistakes and will learn along the way.

I know I have.

Know that I've got your back. Don't subscribe to any pressures, expectations or judgements that do not serve you.

That guilt you feel is showing you what truly matters to you and where to make a change. Tune into that. Investigate that. Own that. And you will only get to know yourself better, but you’ll also show up more authentically in motherhood and life.

The reason I started my practice was to contribute loving, compassionate support to mothers and babies, and to change the way mother’s and babies experience the transition from pregnancy to being a family.

So, here's to you mama! I see you. You are beautiful and amazing and valued. You are enough.
